Matt & Peter with the help of Grant made great progress sculpting on the front wall of the North Star garden. In the morning they sculpted the curved bricks on top. They had to work quickly as was it was 29 degrees celsius (about 85 degrees farenheit for our US friends) with a brisk wind blowing in from the south. That’s a perfect day to be outside but a tough day to be sculpting concrete! The theme work turned out great - as always!
Elephant blocks
It was the perfect day to sculpt concrete and the crew made great progress on the second wall of the North Star suite of the Hazelnut Inn. The giant elephant stone blocks now extend all the way to the tower. The middle section is ‘broken away’ and will be ‘patched’ with brickwork tomorrow. It is amazing just how much this section of wall changed things, both from the outside and inside the hidden garden at the top. Once painted and aged they will look great. When we plant the creeping ivy and it kicks in, this section will look awesome! It is starting to come together in a BIG way! Stay tuned for more progress tomorrow…
Announcing a second Sculpture Magic Workshop
We’ve had an incredible response to our upcoming Sculpting Magic Workshop. It has been sold out for some time. Since then the number of people on the waiting list has grown so long that we have decided to host a second workshop October 20, 21, and 22, 2019.
The sculpting workshop is a hands-on event. You only need to bring an open mind and your work clothes for we’ll supply everything else. You’ll weld, attach lath, mix our special formula of concrete, apply cement, and sculpt it. You will work on a variety of projects individually and in small teams. You will also construct an armature and then sculpt a wonderful piece of your own using sculpting epoxy and other materials. We’ll be doing some painting and glazing as well. We want you to try your hand at every task we do in our shop, learning the process of exactly how we do our projects.
We’ll spend some time touring the highly themed Hazelnut Inn (next door) to show how the same skills you learn in our shop are applied on a much larger scale. On top of that, you will witness our current shop projects in all stages of completion. It is a whole lot to squeeze into three days, but it is our goal to share as much as we possibly can of what took us more than forty years to learn ourselves.
It’s going to be a fun and fast paced three days. The theme of this year’s workshop is visual storytelling. It’s all about using our imaginations to do things we have never done before.
If you are interested don’t wait too long for this one will soon sell out as well. Drop me an email if you are interested and I’ll send you more information. Or go to http://www.imaginationcorporation.com/sculpting-workshop
