The welded steel structure for the Lickity Splitz sign is now complete. Pictures have been sent to the structural engineer for his blessing. It is certainly plenty strong! You have to look close and sort of squint your eyes to see the finished sign as it looks a bit like a wireframe 3D computer model at this stage. Tomorrow the crew will begin the laborious task of tying on the galvanized lath in preparation for the sculpted concrete which will follow later this week. It’s going to be fun to see this fun project come together! Stay tuned…
Sculpting complete
Today I reached a milestone on the smaller entry for the Sign Invitational. I did the last of the sculpting which only leaves a bit of painting to finish off the piece at last. The build has been accomplished at a leisurely pace which has allowed lots of changes and additions along the way. Its been a whole lot of fun too!
Lickity's bones
On Friday we made good progress on the structural frame for the Lickity Splitz sign. It doesn’t look like much at this stage but this structure is critical as we build the rest and later lift it for transport and placement. By the end of day tomorrow we should have it ready to begin the lathing in preparation for his concrete skin.
