Christmas traditions

Traditionally our Christmas tree does not get put up until after the last birthday is done. That would be Phoebe’s birthday which is on December 21. But with Peter and Hailey and the other two grandkids in the house we have blended our traditions and this meant the tree was decorated early - with Phoebe’s blessing. Juniper, now three was eager to help and made many of the decorations on this year’s tree. The tree is one of the prettiest ever! Only three more sleeps until Christmas!

Behind the scenes Matt

It’s not often we get a good picture of Matt. This is because he is often hard at work, underneath a welding helmet, with a breathing mask over his face or doing some other important task that isn’t particularly photogenic. The critical work he does so well is the basis for all that follows. Endless miles of structural steel and pencil rod are carefully formed and welded into place. Over this we tie the lath and then the concrete is applied and sculpted. Matt also directs a lot of what goes on in the shop, especially when I’m at my desk designing and Peter is over at the Hazelnut Inn site directing things there. Today, Matt was welding the framework for the cornice molding on the tallest tower of the Copper Crown suite which we are prefabricating in the shop. It’s going to look fabulous when it is finished! Stay tuned…
