Buttoned up!

The North Star suite of the Hazelnut Inn is now buttoned up. The roofing crew starts on Wednesday and by the weekend it should be watertight. The framers are hard at work on framing the different levels and busy putting in the stairs. That will means we can begin the inside work pretty soon! The plumbers will have first go, followed by the electricians and other trades. Then the spray insulators will do their work. As soon as that is done we will be able to turn on the heat and lights… and then we begin our magic on the inside. Stay tuned…

Rooftop sculpted!

I spent a couple of quiet and enjoyable hours this afternoon working by myself in the shop. I was sculpting the water tank and and other roof details on my Sign Invitational entry. I consider the details the jewelry for the project and there couldn’t possibly be too much ornamentation on a building of this sort. The detail is what effectively tells the story so well. The roof is now ready for the painting process to begin. I have lots of new techniques I’ve been dying to try out and this is just the project to pull out every trick and technique I can possibly muster. It’s going to be a whole lot of fun!
