Day one complete.

It was a very busy day one of the 2018 Sculpture Magic Workshop!! From the moment our first guest arrived until we turned out the lights was a little more than thirteen hours of busy. We welded, wired, mixed concrete, sculpted, sawed, carved and sculpted some more. We also enjoyed marvellous home cooking at meal times and awesome fresh baking in-between. As always at these events we counted on the tireless efforts of our entire crew who took care of so many endless details, most often unasked. This allowed Peter, Becke, and I to concentrate on teaching the class. Matt, Jenessa and Jeff also did a lot of one on one instructing, patiently demonstrating exactly how we create our magic on a daily basis. It was, in short, a great first day!

I was so busy I didn’t get a chance to take any pictures. I look forward to doing it all over again tomorrow!

One more sleep!

Our crew was eager to get ready for the Sculpture Magic Workshop which begins tomorrow morning bright and early. The studio was first cleared of all active projects and materials, then swept and dusted from corner to corner. We dug into the storage areas to gather all of our workshop equipment and began setting up for our guests. It was a very busy day for the entire crew and more. A few of our guests poked in during the afternoon to say hello and were immediately pressed into service with last minute tasks. By quitting time our workspace had been transformed into a learning place. Tomorrow morning, bright and early the fun begins for real!

The backstory

The treehouse has been talked about and anticipated for quite some time by the younger members of our family. Phoebe was all smiles as she watched us prepare to lift the treehouse as she went to school. Unknown to me, Juniper was also watching excitedly from her upstairs window. The house flew by just outside and then was guided into place by grampa. The placing of the base and subsequent lift of the top building took a few hours. While we were busy Juniper was watching intently from the safety of the house. When all was safe she didn’t need a second invitation to try out the slide. The joyful laughter as she enjoyed the slide was abundant payment for all of our hard work!
