It was a busy day in the shop with many projects underway in many stages of construction. The biggest piece is the Copper Crown castle tower which received the last of it’s sculpted concrete. The entire crew worked on this piece and it looks pretty spectacular! The tower will be lifted into place next Wednesday morning.
Enter the dragon
Today, Peter and the crew sculpted a gargoyle dragon under the windows of the first tower of the Copper Crown suite of the Hazelnut Inn. More dragons are planned elsewhere on the castle facade as well. Since the tower is currently laying down in the shop (too tall to stand vertical) I had to climb on top of it to take the picture. This dragon will face south towards the parking lot of the inn. By tomorrow quitting time the sculpting on the tower will be complete. This will allow us to lift the tower into place next week. Our friend John of Wishlow Cranes is already scheduled. The top portions of the ship will be lifted into place at the same time. We can hardly wait!
Happy face
I’ve heard it said that grampa’s are biased when it comes to judging their grandchildren’s artwork. I of course would beg to differ (in my case). I have been, after all, a professional artist for more than fifty years. Juniper has been practicing her colouring and scribbling for quite some time… and they were very artistic efforts in my unbiased opinion. But today, unprompted she decided to draw her first ‘happy face’. The result was FANTASTIC!
