We lifted the hull of the Avellana into place last week. It looks fabulous but gets a little lost tucked into the giant trees which line the property of the Hazelnut Inn. That will change in a hurry when the cabin of the ship joins the hull for it now sports a bright coloured coat of paint. The crew have begun the glazing process which is making the trim really pop!
A bridge!
With the concrete forms now removed from the walls we can at last begin our theme work on site at the Hazelnut Inn. But underneath our theme work there is always a secure and sturdy structure. Today, we installed the welded steel for the bridge which will lead to the North Star Suite. Heavy steel anchor plates were first bolted to the adjoining walls. the gussets came next and then the crew then hoisted the heavy I-beams and we securely welded them into place. Next week we can begin welding up the pencil rod armatures for the bridge and walkway walls. It is becoming very real at long last!
In-floor comfort
While our crew labours on all of the visual elements for the Hazelnut Inn other craftsmen are busy onsite, working hard on the infrastructure of the building. Today the foam insulation was laid on the floors and the heating pipes were carefully arranged and tied to the steel grid. We selected Richard's Plumbing for the task as they did a wonderful job when we built our house a few years ago. The in-floor hot water heat in the tiled floors will be wonderful on bare feet in the winter months, one of the many small luxuries we will afford our guests!
