Six weeks to the workshop!

The Sculpting Magic workshop is now only six weeks distant. We are hearing lots of excitement from those signed up. When we aren't busy with some project in the shop we sneak time away to work on preparations for the workshop. We'll be doing all different projects this go around and the format will be different as well. The theme of the workshop will be 'TELLING A STORY VISUALLY'.

The elephants go marching two by two...

The first crane lift for the Hazelnut Inn is now only two days away and the scramble is on to get as many pieces ready as possible. Peter and I shingled the power tower roof and cut the pieces for the cap. We glued the pieces together this evening and we will sculpt and paint the finished cap tomorrow. We also did the final design of the weathervane for the top and in a couple of hours we had the pieces welded together and ready to paint.

Juniper's First Sign

We had breakfast at our local pancake house this morning. You've been there before (or someplace like it) they always have an activity sheet and some crayons for the kids.

So, Juniper is happily drawing away while we wait for our pancakes. Then she looks right at Hailey and exclaims "I'm painting a sign!" Well, it's not every day a Sawatzky paints her first sign, so I made sure to snap a picture for posterity.

I think you will agree that her work shows great promise!
