All of the physical progress we have made to date on the Hazelnut Inn project will soon be buried and out of sight. Engineered fill, pipes and conduits, footings forms, rebar, piping and drain pit, catch basins, septic tanks, and as of today a septic field have been completed. A lot of money has been spent on soon to be invisible improvements. All of this necessary work is thankfully almost complete allowing the vertical work to begin next. We, along with many sidewalk superintendents can hardly wait!!
NEB's - looking back
As we worked on the final pieces for this year's project for NEBs in Oshawa, Ontario I was reminded of the work we did last year. It was an entire new look for the 52 bowling lanes - more than 400 lineal feet of theme work in all. We are still ver proud of that project! We look forward to seeing all that work combined with the new pub that is just behind the lanes. It is going to be pretty spectacular! The crew there are hard at work getting all the other pieces of the project assembled.
Tomorrow is moving day!
The shop has been very full of large pieces since the the building of the ship began. Since we needed to lift assemblies into place as we fabricated them the ship needed to be built under the lift beam which is in front of the giant door. This meant we have not been able to move any finished pieces until the ship structure is complete. Tomorrow that will happen and the structural engineer will arrive to inspect it. Then we can disassemble the ship and move it out of the shop. All the other large complete pieces will quickly follow. Then the shop will get a sweep from end to end before we move the ship and some smaller pieces back in for further finish work. At that stage we will be able to walk in a straight line through the shop once more without winding our way between the pieces. Tomorrow is moving day!
