The One Track Wheelbarrow is now painted with a shiny coat of yellow paint. It looks very shiny and new, like it would have when it came from the factory. Next week we fix that as we begin the aging process, adding plenty of grime and wear and lots of rust too. By the time we are done it will look like an artifact, telling the story of many, many years of hard use in the mine where it worked.
The answer is blowing in the wind
The windmill will have a windsock mounted to the top of the post. Today, it was time to fabricate it. We briefly considered using a fabric sock but decided that in order to put on a better show (especially when there was no wind) we would sculpt one instead. To best tell the story we decided the wind would be blowing briskly, meaning the sock was stretched out tight and the pole was slightly bent from the force. The direction of the sock (and hence the wind) was optimized to provide the best angle of viewing from the park. The windsock looks home made with hand stitching and includes a patch sewn on the side for a little extra fun. As always the paint and glazes will add a whole lot of colour and character. Stay tuned...
Sibling teamwork
We've had many brother and sister teams working for us through the years. It of course started with Peter and Rebecca giving me a hand when they were young. They still work together in our shop daily. Today is Sidney and Cassie's last day (at least or a while). They did awesome over the last couple of weeks!👍
