This morning we woke to a skiff of fresh snow with a few snowflakes still falling. It's rare on Christmas day in these parts. This year, Christmas morning is unusually quiet as we prepare for a few for turkey feast this afternoon and a much, much larger crowd tomorrow as family gathers from near and far. Christmas at our house is about family and being thankful for our abundant blessings. We are truly blessed! Merry Christmas to everyone!
Making Christmas memories
At our house everyone helps to get ready for the Christmas feast. One of grampa's jobs was to cut the bread into cubes for the delicious turkey stuffing. Juniper, of course, was eager to help as grampa laid the many slices out on the table to dry out a little before cutting. As usual, when grampa and a grandchild are 'working' together, it quickly became a very fun game. Grampa may have encouraged it - just a little. As fast as grampa laid out the bread slices on the table Juniper stacked them up again, taking the occasional bite to make sure it still tasted good. The task took a little longer than it normally would but we got the job done with lots of laughs and in great style. This is the stuff(ing) of Christmas memories to be cherished.
Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
Having fun
One of the awesome things I love about having a well equipped shop is that we can fashion just about anything we can imagine. On a piece like my Sign Invitational entry I design on the fly, creating custom pieces as needed. Layer upon layer of detail is possible and a whole lot of fun to create. Signs, brackets and all manner of bits and pieces are easily designed and then fabricated, some by hand, some with the help of our fancy CNC machines. Yesterday, Janessa started laying on the base coats of paint and the MARVELLOUS MACHINE came to life in an instant. Over the holidays I'll spend some time beginning the aging process. This piece is getting more fun all the time! Stay tuned...
