Three and a half years ago I designed the primary sign for Skallywag Bay. A year later we built two copies of the detailed design for the park. They along with eighteen containers full of other features were shipped down through the Panama Canal two years ago. Yesterday, one of these signs was the last piece to be set into position at Skallywag Bay. It has been an exciting and incredible journey to get the park to this stage. In the next weeks the last finishing construction will happen along with the planting of the landscape and a thousand other important tasks. We will return early in the New Year to do our last minute touchups and see the park complete at long last!
Final concrete!!!
There are many milestones to celebrate during the construction of a complex themed project. Today, we celebrated the completion of the last concrete pour. It was a bit dicy at times as we had four thunder showers during the day but the crew had plastic sheeting at the ready and thankfully each time the warm tropical downpour was brief. The crew worked hard to ensure the concrete turned out great! Tomorrow we return to the worksite to do a final layout for the train. Then on Monday I head back home for Christmas. We'll be back in January for final touchups of our features.
Countdown to finish
It was a very busy day in the hot sun as I directed the crew to shape, form and pour the greens and sidewalks of Skallywag Bay Adventure Golf. The good news is the last two greens were poured today along with multiple sidewalks. Tomorrow morning, the crew will form one last sidewalk before the concrete and pumper trucks arrive to place the last of the concrete. I've been waiting for his day to arrive for four long years!
