It was a given that the Copper Crown (castle) suite of the Hazelnut Inn would have a wishing well in the garden. As we began doing up a concept for the well the question changed. If we were to include a wishing well in the gardens of all three suites what might they look like? As so the design process to answer that question began. At this point it is still a wish... but we believe wishes do indeed come true at the Hazelnut Inn.
Under Hill sign
The sign for the 'Under Hill' suite is a real charmer. Like the other two signs, the suite name is inscribed into a simple scroll. Leafy scrollwork hints at the natural, earthy decor of the room and garden hidden behind the wall. The sign also tells a love story, with a heart shaped lock and an ornate key to unlock it. This is but the beginning of a great adventure.
North Star sign
The second Hazelnut Inn suite to get it's sign was the 'North Star'. The sign needed to reflect the nautical heritage of the room. We decided to have a silver compass rose with a barnacled and rusty anchor as the visual elements. There's a whole lot more going on in this sign than is evident at a quick glance. The sign hints at but a fraction of the beauty we will craft into the suite and garden.
