To bring the new modular home onto our property we literally had to build a twenty foot wide road the length of the property. With the home now on it's foundation that means we can dismantle the road. What are we doing with all of that gravel? Well, it is time to build the final roadbed for the 15" gauge train which will soon circle our property. The train has been in progress for better than twelve years. We finally got the engine running last year but we couldn't drive it very far. The track was waiting for the buildings to be complete before it could be installed. In the last few days I've moved enough gravel to complete almost 400 feet of new railway bed grade. The long straight track up the side of the property now curves towards the modular home for about eighty feet. The curve will make the train ride much more interesting and also will give Peter and Hailey a little more backyard space on their property. It won't be long until track laying begins in earnest!
Lanes with a view
We are still very busy working in our shop on the last truckload of pieces for NEBs Fun World bowling alley. While we finish up here our client and their team are busy installing the previous loads of features. Some elements, like the scenic flats (Trees, hills, bushes and grass profiles) were built there. We provided the routing files. Now all of the pieces are being assembled and it looks to be the coolest bowling alley ever - just as we imagined it would be! Our client is very technically savvy and has created custom programming and themes on the lane scoreboards which operate on an iPad by each lane.
Gearing up production
It's been a while since we've made a sign outside of the theme park world. Our local MultiCam dearer is opening a new office and needed a sign for their reception lobby. I had designed this concept about two years ago and believed the project dead. But, good ideas never go away and it was instead time to make the real thing. Once the file was built the bulk of the cutting was done on MultiCam CNC router. Once I had the pieces in hand I glued them up and applied a surface texture by hand. The sign measures about six feet wide. Painting begins on Monday.
