The crew had fun today working on the details of the mechanical bugs. They are down to the feet of the bugs holding up the giant globe and the other two bugs are also looking very cool. One more day should polish off this stage and the base coats of paint are almost on the tree as well. It won't be long until we are ready to ship them off to their permanent home.
Quick colour!
The base colours are now done on the Sign Invitational entry with the first glazes just begun. The little sculpture suddenly leaps to life as we work. Work is progressing rapidly and in a couple of days this piece will be ready to ship. That's a good thing for the International Sign Association EXPO is now only three weeks away!
Mechanical marvel
The crew made great progress on the mechanical details and connections of the robotic ladybugs today. By the end of the day tomorrow these bugs will begin getting their colour at last. It is amazing how the welded steel frames have been transformed with the skilled hand molding of the epoxy. Viewers can see the strain of these mechanical wonders as they hold aloft the giant globe above them. The drama will increase as the piece is hoisted onto the giant stump which is already in place. I can hardly wait!
