Mechanical marvel

The crew made great progress on the mechanical details and connections of the robotic ladybugs today. By the end of the day tomorrow these bugs will begin getting their colour at last. It is amazing how the welded steel frames have been transformed with the skilled hand molding of the epoxy. Viewers can see the strain of these mechanical wonders as they hold aloft the giant globe above them. The drama will increase as the piece is hoisted onto the giant stump which is already in place. I can hardly wait!

Down to the details

It's now down to sculpting the small details while the painting begins on the larger areas. Peter is sculpting the first of six ladybugs setting the style and level of detail before the crew jumps in to help. Jenessa  is working on other details like the heavy 'rope' which holds up one end of the banner. These pieces are looking pretty cool. I can hardly wait to see everything painted!

Saving ideas for a rainy day

I have a file on my computer desktop full of concept art, drawn through the years for various projects which never managed to get past the idea stage. Most of these concepts have never been seen by anyone outside of our studio. A new project came to us in the past few weeks which may just use some of these ideas I've been saving...   stay tuned for more developments...
