With the truck and crane arriving bright and early tomorrow morning there were still two tasks to do. First we had to squeeze the giant tree out of the shop. Peter and I along with the forklift providing the muscle power used it through the magical door with fractions of an inch to spare. It had to go through just so which we managed with only the tiniest of scratches. Once the giant feature was out in the bright sunshine we needed a quick test fit of the Flutterbye. We knew it would fit but we had to confirm it before we sent the pieces down the road. As expected the giant bug fit perfectly. I can hardly wait to follow this piece down the road to the PNE. I have no doubt it will get more than it's fair share of second looks and stares. I'll be reporting with some pictures of the event for sure. Stay tuned...
A Flutterbye fence
With each project we tackle we seek to raise the bar. We were asked to design and build the fence which will surround the Flutterbye ride. Strict safety standards of course had to be met. But we were also determined to make the fence fun and for it to help tell the story and theme of the ride. The panels were cut to resemble grass blowing in a gentle breeze with Flutterbyes flying through it. Welded steel throughout it is plenty strong but it also evokes the same fun mood as the ride. Everything is powder coated for durability and bolted together with stainless steel hardware. In two days we will be able to see how it all looks in place. We can hardly wait!
Ready to ship
The first load of features for Playland at the PNE is being delivered on Monday morning, bright and early. This meant that today was spent doing last minute preparations, Jenessa was busy with the last painting on the Flutterbye who was looking splendiferous! I can hardly wait to see him back up on the tree! Peter was doing the last of the dry brushing on the tree which is looking spectacular! Shane kept busy welding the last of the frame and brackets to secure the very large tree to the transport trailer. We are now ready to ship!
