Back in Trinidad

I spent most of yesterday on planes, bound for Trinidad once more. Over the next week I'll be on the Skallywag Bay Adventure Park building site to do more layouts and also meet with the owners and builders about the next steps of the construction. We made a brief visit to the mostly idle site today (Sunday). Things are looking good. Over the next days I'll be posting pictures of the progress. Most of the vertical concrete is now up and the last of the suspended concrete slabs are in the process of being formed.

The original vision, which has long lived only on paper is now quickly coming into focus. It is going to be a fabulous park when it is done. The shots I include today are of the train station. The first shot  is from the end of the covered station where the train will sit for loading. Eventually it will sport a thatch roof. To access the adventure golf guests will walk along a raised walkway along the top. The second shot is of the same area but from the top of 'monkey rock' which will tower above everything in the park. I will be sharing plenty more pictures of the progress to date. Stay tuned...

Dino rock

Late last week I worked up three concept drawings to test the waters for viable ideas on a new project. I posted two of the concept ideas in the last couple of days. The third idea was a lost dinosaur civilization theme. Various large stone sculptures and monuments would be embedded deep into a dense jungle landscape.  One quick drawing was done to pitch the concept. It is great fun to work up blue sky concepts to ponder the endless possibilities. Next week we will get a reaction back from the client and these or other ideas will be fleshed out into a full blown design for a good sized project. We are looking forward to the challenge!

Visiting the past for a future project

We are exploring a bunch of concepts with a new client. One of the themes we are looking at is a idea first explored more than fifteen years ago for a project that never got past preliminary design. When the project languished I tucked those sketches away for further reference. Good ideas never go bad. With this new project now in the exploratory stage I dug up the old material and picked some of my favourite bits and then whipped up this quick concept as a teaser. The project may well proceed or it may possibly go back to the idea file and perhaps surface once again in the future. Time will tell.
