Here comes the train!

Peter and I are helping out at a workshop in Denver until the weekend. While we are gone the crew is busy working on the pirate train. They managed the bulk of the first coat of sculpting epoxy. In the next days they will make good progress on the fine textures and detail I'm sure. I can hardly wait to get back and see it done!

Once in a blue moon

Peter has also finished assembling one of the pub signs he has been working on of late. It's a beauty and very different from most dimensional signs I've seen. The centre decorative panel is plasma cut steel. The dimensional sign panels are laminated onto both sides of this sturdy framework. Both sides are identical - but not for on the back side of the sign everything except the lettering is reversed. It's only once in a blue moon that things work out this pleasing in such a project. Well done Peter!

Two of a kind - sort of

I had a great time today, sculpting the whimsical figures on two of the pub signs. The heads were sculpted back to back on the signs. It was a great time to simply be creative. I didn't even try to make the back to back figures too similar as one can't see both sides of the signs at once. Those who take the time to look at both sides will be rewarded.
