Last push before the workshop

With the last group of Sculpture Magic Workshop guests due to arrive tomorrow afternoon we were busy trying to push out as much as we could on our last day of production this week. I kept the MultiCam plasma cutter sparking all day and managed to get through thirteen sheets of steel amongst all of the other things that occupied my time through the day. We also took delivery of much of the square tubing we will need for the Viking ships for the Motiongate, Dubai project. The shop is also full of previous cut pieces which we will begin to assemble next week.

Study models

As we develop the story and theme of our next project we are also beginning to build a few study models to help us out. The reason is that things often look different in real live 3D than they do in a 2D drawing. Models certainly help our clients clearly visualize the concepts. The first two models we sketched was the king of our garden world. I did a head bust while Peter worked on him sitting on his royal amphibious steed. Things are still very fluid and many changes are yet to come. This is going to be a lot of fun!

Plenty of small bits

The shop and yard are full of small bits for the targets. Unassembled they don't make much sense. We are hustling to get them ready to get galvanized. Rather than send the hired truck into the city empty we'll send a load of small bits in and bring the large piece back for finishing. Then we'll trade some more pieces in the next trips as well. In the process we'll save almost half the cost of transport to the galvanizers. It all adds up.
