The Trinidad project has now been in the works for more than two years. We've been working on more than a hundred detailed pieces for a year and a half. Today we began loading the last of fourteen, forty foot shipping containers. Our parking lot will seem somewhat bare when we send the last two on their way. But the good news of course is that soon I'll be down in Trinidad to oversee the setting up of the features there. It will be exciting to see all of the pieces as they were meant to be seen.
Still even more
With sixteen seats available in two workshops that makes a lot of name plaques to be made. After I design and carve them on the router they move on to the paint department for Becke to do her magic. They are looking pretty nice! Other preparations are also under way for the workshops and the whole crew is getting excited to welcome our guests from around the world.
Instant old
Over the last few days I brushed four perfect coats of bright yellow paint onto the box display for the Sign Challenge piece. When they were dried I broke out the sander and proceeded to totally destroy what I had just accomplished. I scratched it, hammered it and hit it with acid to create some rust on the bare spots. I then added a dirty glaze to add some grunge. The objective was to create a table that looked like it had been in service for decades, as worn and well used as the tank it supported.
