Being a grampa is indeed a wonderful thing, for a grandchild offers the opportunity to relive youth once more and have fun simply playing. It is best done with full enthusiasm! Visiting a Disney park offers unlimited opportunity to play all sorts of games and that we did. Phoebe led the way while I did my best to keep up. She did let me drive the speeder bike (after her turn solo). While the speeder was fun the lightsabers proved to be better by far! Best of all we can take them home to continue the fun! It was an awesome Jedi night!
Open the Gates!
This morning we took advantage of the clear weather and installed the gates. Installation day is alway exciting and happily the gates went in without a hitch.
At 8' tall, 10'wide, and 3" thick they provide plenty of privacy, but they are still 'neighbour friendly.' In fact, we received several 'thumbs up' from people driving by as we were installing them. Each side of the gates depicts a different forest scene. The inner scene features a deer while the outside of the gate includes a little bunny rabbit.
Now we wait as the gates continue to gather a natural patina before we apply the finishing touches to visually separate the different layers.
Theme park research
I would imagine that no matter what your profession might be, when you travel you keep an eye on what the out of towners are up to. In our case, being theme park designers and builders, we love to visit theme parks on our vacations. We always learn many new things! The Disney parks are our favourite. The only thing better than visiting the parks is bringing someone who has never been before. This time we brought Phoebe and Becke, both of whom had never been to Disney World previously. As we walk around with them we see the park through fresh eyes and in the process see many new things ourselves. Our first day was spent at Disney's Animal Kingdom for Phoebe is such a huge fan of all things nature. She was even picked to go up on stage at the bird show and had a great horned owl swoop close over her head and land right above her. GREAT FUN!
