We've started work on a sign for the arcade at Scallywag Bay Adventure Park. The name of the arcade, Hornswaggler's, is engraved into a giant, battle worn cutlass. The sword will sit in a holder fashioned out of a weathered board.
A gate like no other
Peter has been itching to build a gate ever since we took delivery of our MultiCam CNC plasma cutter. Plasma cut gates aren't uncommon but he intended to take things up several notches. The gate would be curved inwards and have a curved meeting point but we've done that before on other gates we've built. This time he would cut five layers of plate steel and weld them together to create a forest scene, complete with wildlife.
Today Peter fired up the MultiCam and set it in motion while he and the boys started cutting and welding up a sturdy steel frame. Then they polished the edges of the cut steel plate and started welding. The first layer is now complete. Tomorrow they will begin cutting and welding new layers in place. Stay tuned...
All hands on deck!
It was all hands on deck again today with the crew refreshed and eager to get back to their jobs after their holiday time off. The morning was spent getting everything in order and this afternoon the concrete work began on the food boat. The last of the concrete was applied to the back of the boat plus the mast. Never has the back of a food vending cart looked so fine! The purple paint is merely an undercoat for those who are worried. :)
On the front side the base coats of paint are being layered on. Things are getting to be very colourful!
