We love our new MultiCam CNC plasma cutter. All of a sudden we can cut metal of all thicknesses precisely and quickly. Complex shapes are no problem at all. That means some things I've been putting off are now possible. One such project is for the house... and will require twelve of these handy rigs. Any guesses what this thing is? Tomorrow evening I'll post a picture of them installed... Take a guess.
One track mind
Jenessa has been working hard on the train models and they are now nearing completion of the sculpting process. Doing the models has allowed us and the train chassis builder to work out many details regarding placement of the mechanical components. The model will also serve us well as we begin sculpting the real thing.
One more layer
It was time for a little bling and 23K gold did the trick nicely. Some variegated leaf on the upper portions of the lettering created even more sparkle and variety. Once the gilding had set it was time for more hand sculpting. It didn't take long to add the gravel and rocks to the top.
That too was allowed to cure before the base coats, blending and glazes were applied. Some subtle dry brushing finished off this layer. It looks a little like a fancy cake awaiting the topper which will begin soon.
