Metal working heaven!

On occasion we give tours of the shop to prospective customers. A while back I was showing a lady through the shop and she commented that her husband was never to be allowed in. Apparently he loved tools and she thought he would be very jealous of our workspace if he got a glimpse inside. With the latest additions it is my bet that man would be even more envious. We've waited a long, long time but we are now on the brink of having a fully equipped metal working shop at last. The MultiCam plasma CNC cutter will be operational early next week. It is now in place and all levelled, with all of the air, electrical, and data hookups done. Across from the plasma cutter we also added a large metal bandsaw which went into operation today. The new steel racks should be done tomorrow. Jack, our welder is all smiles!

Almost ready to roll

In our shop we specialize in creating the visual parts of the projects. Often, hidden underneath our work is some pretty sophisticated machinery which is crafted by some very talented vendors. These companies are often far, far away. The Scallywag Bay Adventure Park train is a good example. While we build the engine and car bodies here in our shop, our partners, Hillcrest Shops are building the mechanical components in California. These guys are the very best in the business when it comes to theme park trains. I received some progress photos this weekend and things are coming together nicely. Sean and his crew take a great deal of pride in making things perfect.

The train engine will appear to have been built from salvaged shipwrecks by our Gruffles back in 1760's but in reality is will be a mechanical wonder that is state of the art from top to bottom. It will be hydraulic drive powered by a modern diesel engine, complete with air powered brakes.

Last three name plaques

Today it is time to reveal the last three name plaques for the attendees of the Sculpting Magic Workshop to be held in a couple of weeks. We are hearing from many who are going to attend and it is obvious just how excited they are. Our crew is anticipating the workshop and preparations are well in hand. Those who attended in years past will be surprised by all the changes we have made.
