The first six name plaques for the upcoming Sculpture Magic Workshop are starting to look very colourful. The base coats are now all done and the secondary colours and glazes have begun. Becke is performing her usual magic to bring them to life. She still has a bunch of work to do including final glazes, more colours, dry brushing of shadows and highlights and of course a little genuine silver or gold leaf as needed. What you see here is just the basics. In the next few days these will get their final touches and the next bunch will be started. Stay tuned...
Two of a kind - almost
Those who drive down the main drag in our little town of Yarrow can't miss our house it seems. It isn't exactly ordinary and with the landscaping now almost complete it really jumps out at passers by.
Down the street is another house that has been gathering a lot of attention of late as well. The house, of course, belongs to Peter and Hailey. This summer the decade long renovation project got a lot of concentrated attention and the front and sides are now almost done. The back is coming along nicely too and will be done by summer's end. Much of the design for the front and beginnings of the work came from Phoenix and Becke with Peter and Hailey filling in the gaps. While the house's design is dramatically different in style from ours it is also vaguely familiar. It uses many of the same techniques and is a dramatic blend of real and faux materials.
Last sunset in Trinidad for a while
After a very busy week in Trinidad with a great deal of final progress made on the planning it is time to return home once more. Everything is now set for construction to begin on site. The buildings, rides and attraction locations are all surveyed and staked out. Everyone involved has a clear vision of the project and the order in which it will be completed. Now the construction will begin. I will be keeping a close eye on the progress from my studio with a live video feed and time lapse photos being captured of the whole site. Some of that material will also be shown here from time to time, allowing everyone to witness the creative progress from this point forward. It is going to be extremely exciting. I will return to this wonderful island in less than two months and by then the ground will no longer be flat and the construction will be well into the vertical stage at last. I look forward to the next adventure with a great deal of anticipation!
