It is always a very exciting day in a theme park when the steel of a new coaster begins to go vertical. Today those first pieces of giant steel were tipped up and bolted into place. This is the lowest section of track where the train goes through the station. This is going to be so cool!
Paint day
Today was paint day in the shop with twelve large barrels, four fence posts and the last bits on the train receiving the treatment with multiple coats of color. We made good progress and the shop was a lot more colorful by the end of the day. Amber, our newest and youngest hire enjoyed working on the number plate of the train.
Color magic
It is fun to watch the transformation of a piece from raw carving, though the priming, painting and multiple glazing, more painting and then a final glaze to tie it all together. The most critical task is not the application of the paints and glazes but rather the judicial removal of the glaze in key areas to allow the under colors to shine through and bring the piece to life.
