Tree coming to life

Every time there is an oversize feature in the shop as many people as possible put in every available hour getting it finished and out the door. The reality is that little else can fit in the shop until we are done. These days that means everyone is busy on the treehouse. The base coats are now behind us and the first glazes are well under way. The tree and bamboo poles are looking pretty spiffy.

On the back side in a hollow of the tree there is a treasure, overflowing with gold coins and other bounty. The base coats on this treasure are now done with only the purple glaze to follow. With the paint in place it's hard to believe this is sculpted concrete!

Tomorrow the last of the glazes will be brushed on and judiciously wiped to reveal the exquisite grains and textures. Stay tuned for pictures of the finished piece tomorrow.

Monday magic

On Mondays everyone is eager to get things rolling again in the shop. The treehouse was taking up a lot of real estate and before it went back out of the magic doors we needed to apply a whole lot of paint. Today the crew managed two base coats and as the paint flowed on the piece seemed to grow before our eyes.

Tomorrow one more base coat will be followed by the first of the glazes. It's going to get a whole lot more colorful in a hurry. Stay tuned...

Winter wonder

We live in a most beautiful part of the world. Our little village is at the top of a large delta and the mountains rise steeply behind us and across the valley on the other side. As we head into winter the mountains gather their coats of fresh snow while we stay mostly above freezing in the day time hours. On clear days the views are breathtaking. I was shopping in town today and as I drove home dmiring the scenery I couldn't ressist taking out my little point and shoot camera to grab ths picture of Mount Slesse which is to the southeast of us.

Living in such a beautiful place does inspire me in a big way.
