Two signs - sculpt complete

Last week we also managed to finish the sculpting the posts for two ride signs. The Skallywag Railway sign is now ready for paint. Both sign posts were sculpted in two pieces so they can fit in the shipping container vertically (on a securestand of course) .

The Yardarm Twist sign also was finished being sculpted, both the concrete post and epoxy figure and name banner. The day before we assembled the sign so we could sculpt the bottom portion of the top section in order that the pieces fit together perfectly. On Friday we took the pieces apart once more to finish the top of the post and the sails.

The sculpted conncrete covered the top of the mast and sails. The banner and the balance of the figure were sculpted with epoxy to facilitate much finer details.

Here's a closer look at the detail on Twister and the banner...

Both of these signs (and posts) are going to look great when they are installed. I can hardly wait! Stay tuned...

More concrete mud

Yesterday was a big sculpting day to make sure the painters had plenty to do through next week. The first operator's booth is now sculpted and ready for the next steps. Peter, Hailey and I are enroute to attend the massive theme park trade show in Florida this coming week and one of the things we will source there is sythetic thatch for the roofs of a few of the features including this booth. We've already selected a thatch we like online but there is nothing quite like actually seeing it in person and handling it to make sure it is exactly what we are looking for.

The last balance beam for the Treasure Quest kid's play area also got sculpted yesterday. Imagine the fun kids will have as they walk the undulating log and try their hand at pulling out the giant cutlas!

The forked log feature for hole six was also done. It is be placed perfectly to make golfing this hole a bit more of a tougher challenge.

There's more of course but that will have to wait until tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Painter's delight

The painters worked ther magic to bring more pieces through to completion. The dirtbank got it's last galze and now is finished. Its amazing how the last glazes do so much to a feature.

The hollow log that will span the small creek for golfers to putt through on the second hole also got it's final paint and glazes as well. It's plenty big for a good sized kid to crawl through after their ball as we know through experience that this will often happen.

Today was a productive day in the shop with lots of pieces getting their sculpted coat of concrete but a peek at those will have to wait until tomorrow. Stay tuned...
