The magic of light

The park looks great in the day time with all of the details purposely designed and crafted to take advantage of the sunlight but each feature is also designed and lit to look great in the dark as well. As daylight fades and the lights are turned on the real magic happens.

Phoebe and I spent a couple of hours in the park this evening, sampling each ride a number of times. Phoebe was in charge of the fun snd carefully laid out the order we would ride each attraction building up to the most exciting ride. I enjoyed watching guests enjoying the park.

OPEN!

Something as complex as a theme park doesn't open merely with the twist of a key in a lock. Once the construction is done the rides must be checked and tested, manuals and operating proceedures need to be written and approved by the authorities, staff needs to be trained, and countless details taken care of throughout the park. Only then can the gates be opened.

Cultus Lake Adventure Park has achieved a partial soft opening - a huge milestone. In this brief period staff will recieve their final training, the final landscape will be done, and every attraction and area will be opened to the public as they are ready. Only then will the grand opening will be celebrated.

Today the park was busy as all of the arrangements and procedures were methodically done. Just after supper hour it was time at last to take down the barriers and let the public take a first look. The crowd was waiting and ready for some fun...

Here's a quick peek.

Almost

I dropped in at Cultus Lake Adventure Park this morning. It was a busy place. They were tying up last minute details around the park and cleanup was still underway. But things had changed in a dramatic fashion through the, park making it much more magical. The theme music was playing and water was flowing. What a difference it made.

I was taken back to when we opened Giggle Ridge fourteen years ago. We labored so hard, welding, sculpting, painting, shaping the land and landscaping. It all looked pretty good but the day we turned on the waterfalls and the music it became a different amd magical place in an instant.

I experienced that same feeling today. In the next days I'll shoot a little video.

Today there's only one small picture to tease.

Tomorrow afternoon everyone will get to experience the park for the first time.
