In the swing of things

As we scramble to finish our work throughout the park the various trades are all doing their part to complete the rest. The park is a very busy place these days. Over the next thre weeks I have no doubt the pace will pick up considerably.

One of the projects under way are the swinging bridges in the Wilderness Adventure. Two of the six bridges in the park are now in place and looking fine.

Looking at the photos above shows how our painting crew has been very busy laying down the color in the park. Early next week we will be finished in this area and moving on to the Western area. Stay tuned...

Amazing crew

Our creative crew is not like typical construction crews. For starters we have a relatively young workforce. They range in age from 17 - 38 (not including me) We have a mixed crew (ladies and men). The energy level runs high each day and inevitably there is plenty of sillyness and joking.

During the last few days the ladies have been painting the theme work around the pool. They have been starting work extra early, when temperatures are cooler to facilitate easier blends and glazing. This morning when I arrived I looked in on the painting crew. Disney's 'Under the Sea' was playing on the music system. The ladies were 'swimming' as they moved across the pool. Closer inspection revealed they were wearing water wings and life preservers. It was another typical day on our jobsite.

As our project begins to wind down in the next few weeks a few of our crew will move on to new adventures. With everyone onsite today it was time for a group picture.

I appreciate the daily efforts of each and every one of them.

Big steel is rising

As we work hard on the ground to finish our part of the project the giant steel structures of the rides are being craned into position and bolted together above and around us. The skyline is changing dramatically. It is exciting to watch the park come together.

Our team seems to be gathering steam as we close in on the western end of the park. The welding is now done and by the end of the week the lath will all be done as well. The painting crew are working exceptionally hard too.

The western end does not yet have much paint yet but it is looking very fine.

As we stroke various jobs off our list the crew narrows their efforts and more work seems to get done each day. A few weeks ago all visitors to the park doubted we would finish in time but ten months of hard work seemingly comes together in the last moments - as always on these kinds of projects.
