30 days (and an hour) to glue a sign

A month ago we cut the pieces for the wagon wheel sign but we've been so busy with other things they gathered dust in the corner until today. I used the compressor to blow off all the dust and then set to work. A sturdy steel frame was first fabricated for inside and then the various layers were glued around it.

Now we'll begin the carving process and then the sculpting of the prairie dog that will be perched on top. It should take a lot less than a month to do the next stages. Hopefully. Stay tuned...

Just a little tease

My momma always told me not to tease others but it was a lesson I was never good at. Even to this day.

Over the last days I've been working at designing a new large project for 2015. As usual it could very well be our very best work yet when it gets built. Time will tell. I've sure had fun dreaming up and drawing the many drawings.

top secret 1.png

The theme for this project is different than anything we've ever done before. It's a serious and historical subject but done in a very fun style with everything taken to the extreme (as per usual). But this early in the project I've been sworn to secrecy by the client - at least for now. That means I can't show anything here. But I simply couldn't resist. I of course had to sensor the drawing just a little.

If anyone somehow figures things out promise me you won't tell anyone...  :)

The inside a hollow log

Some of the seemingly simplest things are anything but simple as we make them. The Wilderness Adventure area will have a giant forked log that the kids (and adults) can go through. It will be massive - over sixteen feet long. Peter was in the shop today laying the groundwork for the structure. He's going through plenty of steel as he works and the log is quickly taking shape. This is the inside shape of the log. The outer skin also needs a similar structure.

I'll be posting more pictures as the project comes together. Stay tuned...
