Important stuff

No matter how busy we get it is critically important to take time for the important things.

Today I was working on a business plan for an upcoming project and the deadline is rapidly approaching. It was intense work that required my undivided concentration. But as important as that was there were other important things going on too. I was working in the house today, in my recliner with my feet up. Our niece was sitting beside me in the living room and her young son Mason was on her lap. I of course had to play my role as BABY HOG. I did so with glee.

The new thing from Mason is getting a smile, still a bit of a challenge. And no one (not even his momma) had yet captured a photo of the deed. The CHALLENGE was on! Mason was in the mood today (and I was good!) and he gave me SIX smiles in a row - a new record! We managed to capture two with the camera too!

Innovators and Influencers award

Recently I was contacted by the editor of Sign and Digital Graphics Magazine based in Colorado. They had asked their readers (from around the world) to nominate people who were 'Innovators and Influencers' in the sign industry. I was very surprised and honored to hear that I was one of the twenty-five sign professionals (the only Canadian) in the final selection.

Each of the finalists was featured on a separate page in the magazine and will recieve a custom award.

It is a huge honor to be chosen by my peers for this prestigeous award. Thanks to those (whoever they may be) who put my name forward.

New feathered friend

For many years I only drew pictures but these days one of my favorite things is to create three dimensional versions of my ideas. It's kinda fun to take a sculpting medium and fashion something that will hopefully bring a smile to people's faces.

Today's task was to build the cartoon vulture that sits on top of the giant cactus for the Windmill Drop ride. Hailey and Kendra mixed the sculpting epoxy for me while I jumped up on the scaffold to do my work. It took about three hours of fun to sculpt my new feathered friend.

After lunch we began work on a second bird on the Wilderness Adventure sign.
