The beginning of a wonderful fish story

A fish story is often in the realm of fiction. I've not seen anything from my worthy competitors who so boldly challenged me a few weeks ago. I learned long ago to push on the front end of a project rather than burn midnoght oil as the deadline looms. Perhaps my firends have not yet learned this lesson. :)

I've snuck a few minutes here and there over the last while between our paying work and the house project to start the building of the routing files for the mechanical fish. It is coming along pretty quickly. Here's the original sketch...

And here's the beginnings of the computer 3 model...

I'm looking forward to what Jamie and Doug come up with...

Last of the pieces for Whistle Punk

One of the last pieces for Whistle Punk Hollow Adventure Golf are the rails for under the train up on the trestle. The train is actually held up with structural steel supports and so we do not need real rails for support. Instead we machined them from Precision Board high density urethane in two halves. We'll glue the two pieces together and then add the rail plates (complete with spikes) and then paint everything with our rust paint to make them look authentic.

Hailey and Sarah were busy trimming the excess off of the pieces and then the assembly will start.

Wet weather will most likely delay the install of these pieces until next week when the sunshine comes back but the grand opening of Whistle Punk Hollow Adventure Golf goes ahead rain or shine on Saturday at noon. I'll be there with a huge gin on my face I'm sure.

Gates are ready!

Today was one of those days where a hundred things were going on and I wondered how much progress we were making, but at the end of the day the whole place looked better and many small things were accomplished. The gates for Whistle Punk Hollow were finsihed off and will sit out in the rain tonight and tomorrow to kick off their perfect rust patina.

The sturdy gates will handily keep out the riff raff when the park is closed but will also be welcoming when the park is open. Tomorrow we will begin packing the trailer with our needed supplies to begin our final installs and paint in time for the grand opening on Saturday. We'll install the gates just in time to swing them open to the public for the first time.
