Installation day

The carpenter who was doing the work on Dave's workshop was sick for the past few days. This meant the installation of the sculpture was delayed until this afternoon. It only took a few minutes to hoist it up on the scaffold and then fasten it into place.

The little sculpture looks great in it's new home. The colors blend in with the building and the roofline and overhang  The carpenter will now finish the siding and trim around it to lock it permanently into place. I'll go back in a day or two for more pictures when the scaffold is removed.

New Year's Resolution

As 2012 quickly comes to a finish it is time to reflect on time past, and more importantly focus on the next year and beyond.

2012 will be remembered as the year we built the new house. It's not quite finished yet but we got plenty done in the last year with the help of many others. Thank you to them! Dreams held, and planned for more than a decade now are very real in the front yard.

2012 was another year of wonderful projects in the shop and of planning some cool things for 2013 and beyond.

The recession that set everyone back over the last years is now just a memory, but those financial hardships we all endured are a lesson well learned. Now is a time to forge ahead once more.

I have been blessed immeasurabley through the past year and indeed my life, surrounded and supported by loving family and friends. I am privileged to do what I love each day. Through my writings and workshops I am afforded the opportunity to share these wonderful adventures with many others and hopefully through these efforts encourage them to discover and realize their own dreams.

My life is not perfect (far from it), but rather is what I make of it. This coming year I promise once again to do my best to focus on the positive things that happen each and every day, to encourage others, to make the small world I come in contact with a little better.

This is my resolution for New Years.

Last details before delivery

This afternoon I'll deliver the carpenter sculpture to my client and we'll hoist him to his display space. That meant I had to finish the paint this morning in order to give it time to dry. The last of the glazes were applied yesterday. This morning I added some dry brush highlights to his hair and beard. The last touch was the tiny highlights in his eyes. As quick as that he was done and ready for delivery.

I'll be taking some pictures of the install this afternoon. Stay tuned for the final pics later today.
