Attack by a NINJA!

Phoebe, my most favorite seven year old grand daughter has long claimed to be a NINJA. She is definitely deadly but is still working hard on the silent part of the equation.

Today Janis & I were relaxing on the couch, watching a little TV when I saw Phoebe peek arond the corner, eyeing things up. I of course pretended not to take notice. She pulled back and then suddenly lunged into the room, did a neat summersault and disappeared behind the other couch. Janis and I both could hardly control our (almost) silent laughter. Then Phoebe noisily clambered between the couch and wall (small black dog named Ninja in tow) before emerging near us, knocking a floor lamp over in the process. (no serious damage was done) At this point Phoebe was out in the open but once more we pretended not to notice. She circled around behind us and then closed in for the tickle. I rewarded her (as required by grampa law) by being massively surprised.

Being a grampa is so very much fun!

Brackets are like well placed punctuation

I love to think of every aspect of my signs as being important. Elements like brackets are designed in from the start - not an afterthought. Let me show you a couple examples.

The first was for a ficticious business called True North Sub Stop. It was a sample for my display in my studio. The bracket is actually part of the sign and plays off the shapes of the sign.

The second sign uses right angles and diamond shapes instead of circles.

I look forward to continuing to push the boundaries on future projects in an even more creative fashion.

Giggle this!

Through the years Janis and I have built three houses of our own as well as many other projects. In the next while we will be building our fourth. With the last two houses we worked with contractors, doing the fancy and imaginative parts ourselves. On the house we are planning it will be the same.

We've chosen to work with Harold Esau and the crew of Harold's Contracting. They were the folks we worked with on the Fox and Hounds Pub. I found Harold and his crew easy to work with and ready to accept different ideas and unique ways of doing things. At the pub we were often asked 'Are we doing this or is it being GIGGLED?' This referred to the bits and pieces my crew was to handle.

I suspect on the new house we'll be hearing that question a lot. This one is going to be the most fun ever!
