It's time!!

About six years ago we cut and painted a surround for a new clock in our shop. I asked my helper to NOT take apart the clock but rather just stick in into the new frame. I guess I wasn't clear with my instructions for the clock was taken apart to put in the new frame and it stopped working, never to tick again. We finished the project but the hands of that clock have been frozen in time ever since. A picture of that clock even made it into an international magazine. Our intent was to either fix it or find a new one the same size and replace it. We never did find the time.

With the workshops being held this week and next I finally decided I could stand it no more. We needed a clock. We aquired a new clock and I cut and glued a new decorative surround for it. I test fit it today and it does fit perfectly - and without taking apart the clock. In the next day or two we'll paint it all up and fasten in the clock. Hopefully it will work better than the old one.  :)

Now it is time to get busy once more!

More than a passing grade!

Today I recieved a wonderful email from Cory Major, a fellow from Ontario, Canada who had taken our workshop last fall. Obviously he was listening and taking to heart the things we talked about. His business was called Tonner Signs but is in the process of rebranding to ATOMIC DESIGNS and SIGNS.  Here's an excerpt from his email...

After your workshop changed the way we look and think about signs and we're now in the middle of rebranding and "investing in my future". One day we were cleaning the shop and I found a door under a table and for a joke I screwed it on to a wall in my showroom. My employee thought I was going a little crazy, but now it looks like this, and it's only the start....I thought you would like to have a look. What do you think?

Cory included a picture of course.

Shop tour!

Today I thought we would do something a little different. I've shown various views of the shop and studio through the hundreds of pictures in my posts but I get many requests to see how it all fits together. So I shot a little video of our shop and studio, much the same way I would take you through the space if you dropped in for a personal visit. The lighting in the studio is focused on our work areas, making it hard to shoot quality video. On top of that my little camera does not have a wide angle lens and so the views are somewhat limited but it gives a little better idea of our creative working space.

If you want a better look you will just have to drop in and see it for yourself.
