Next up - the next workshop!

As we were busy with other business thse last few days I've kept the CNC router busy on it's own. Our next Sign Magic Workshop is in little more than two weeks. The samples our students will work on were the first to be routed. The machine will go again tomorow to finish them all.

As we begin preparations for those who will be travelling so far I find my enthusiasm buildng once again. It is going to be another great workshop!

Knock knock

There is so much going on these days. I'm working as many hours as I can squeeze in of course. Other pressing matters take some serious time as well. And in between Janis & I are putting down as many ideas as we possibly can trying to put all the details of the house plans into place. Today was the kitchen, dining room and the entry. Inspiration is coming from books, magazines, some of our favorite movies and our imaginations of course. A tidbit here, a detail there, all mixed together and out pops an outlandish idea. I scribble it down, show it to Janis, get a reaction, then redraw and redraw if necessary until we are both on the same page. Area by area the plan is coming together. This continues to be a wonderful adventure.

Designing from the heart

They say the hardest work to do is the stuff we do for ourselves. I believe that. In this case it is a long held dream and we desparately want to get it right. As we get close to the start line on our house the drawing has begun in earnest. Everything is still loose and many ideas are being explored as we narrow down the final design, both inside and out. We will only have one chance to get this right. The results we will have to live with for a long time to come.

The ideas are flowing like water. Page after page of sketches come off the drawing board in a flurry. Other ideas come hard. Some are discarded, others combined and a few make the cut right off the bat, and in turn inspire other similar ideas and style through the project. We are pulling out the stops and it is starting to come together.

Nothing is final yet, but I thought it might be fun to share some of the process here...
