Whirlwind tour

As an artist, designer, muralist and theme builder I have been afforded incredible opportunities and experiences through the years. It is something I do not take for granted nor ever get tired of. This morning I got up extra early and drove into the city. I would jump on a plane and first fly to Dallas for a tour of the MultiCam head office and fabrication facility. Here they design and manufacture complex CNC machinery on a very grand scale. The building is cavernous and the array of complex machines in all stages of construction is nothing short of awe inspiring.

The highlight of the tour was seeing my own new CNC machine in the final stages of assembly. In a few short weeks we will take delivery of this new state of the art four axis CNC Router. It will be a serious upgrade over the three axis machine we have been using (and enjoying) for the last five years. I am looking forward to the challenge!

Then it was back to the airport and back on another plane for the final leg of my journey to Orlando, Florida to begin preparations for the Sign Magic Workshop to be held there later this week. It will be held at the MultiCam technical center in Orlando. It is very exciting to say the least! I have two days to gather supplies and prepare and then the workshop will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday. After that it will be on to Disney World for some serious time of soaking in inspiration and FUN!

Stay tuned for updates...

My favorite kind of concrete.

There are a few kinds of concrete work that are my favorite. The beginning of course is always exciting. Laying down and carving that first bit of concrete determines the direction the project will take. Each new phase and feature also are right up there on my list as well. But after months and months of work there is one kind of concrete work I also enjoy very much. Today I got to do some of that kind of concrete. It was the last batch of concrete on this project.

Now we are down to paint and the eye candy and a few more surprises - just for fun.

The view from my window

The licence plate on our vehicles reas BEAUTIFUL BRITISH COLUMBIA for a reason. We live in a beautiful place.

One of the reasons we chose the tiny town of Yarrow was the spectacular view to the south of our property. we are located near the center of our small village and yet we are surrounded by farms on three sides. THe trees on the left are hazelnuts and the red bushes in the foreground are blueberry bushes of our other neighbors. The mountain is Vedder Mountain. My large studio windows and my desk face this vista. When we build our new house the living areas will not face the street, but rather the rear of our property and this very same awesome view. I never tire of seeing the constant change of light play out on the mountain. This same awesome view inspired the name of this journal.

In the last few days the mountain view has become much more colorful - as it does every year about this time. It is fall once more and I am loving every second of it.

I hope you too enjoy the view from my window.
