A House Built With Love
Peter finished off the welding of the new gate tree yesterday. The gates are ready to re-hang at last.
As with every area of the house the MAGIC will be in the details. Peter cut a small heart in the trunk of the tree, taking the theme of the outside of the house to the center of the gate.
In the next day or two (as time permits) it wil be time to hang the gates back where they belong. Stay tuned...

Today the worksite was busy from one side to the other. Up on the roof the roofing crew nailed on the last of the underlay. They will return on Thursday to begin the recycled rubber shakes. Two teams of carpenters were working their way around the soffits which look very classy. Inside the walls were being laid out and framed.
With the return of the sunshine today it was time for our crew to start in on the sculpting of the concrete once more. We began up on the facia between the two houses. Because the two houses were so close it would be the most difficult. We had to climb into the gable of the old house to reach. I worked the top while Peter carved the bottom.
Then it was off to the carport area to begin sculpting the rockwork. Each wall will be will be done in four stages, one side at a time, the inside heart and then, lastly, the top. Today we managed four panels.

Today was another rainy day which limited us from doing many tasks. Today was a day of working on many small details, finishing off litle areas and taking care of little things. While we would rather have had sunshine we made the best of things under the cover of he roof that had the felt on it. The roofers were absent on account of the weather.
I've mentioned it before how buillding a house is about making countless decisions along the way, making sure the actual house we are building lives up to the vision we started with. Today we looked at interior doors, discussed possible cabinet layouts, looked at window height modifications (for the kitchen) and many more small details. Our gas fitter ran the gas line to the outdoor barbeque area which snaked through the house up to and across one of the high beam of the patio and then down one of the posts where the barbeque will live.
The CNC router was kept busy cutting trim pieces for the front porch area.
The carpenters made good progress on the soffits today. The stair risers are now complete and fr the first time we don't need a small ladder to get onto the landing. It feels great!
Tomorrow the sun promises to shine once more. We have many great things planned!
