Becoming a REAL house!

Today was a whirlwind of activity from start to finish. The roofers and the shingles arived first thing as I stumbled from the house - almost awake. It took a whle and a lot of effort from the roofing crew to stack the 65 squares of shingles along the ridge of the roof. Once the truck was loaded the crew began nailing themonto the roof. It looked great but I did not manage to get a good picture. Tomorrow I'll be sure to grab some.

The carpenters split into two teams. One continued work on the front gable and soffits. The other team worked on framing inside walls, defining each room at last. The whole inside of the house quickly came together and it instntly became apparent how big each room would be. Years of planning, measuring and more planning suddenly became real.

Each day we have to use our imaginations less to 'see' the house and each room in it. It is very exciting!

Today's progress.

Today work continued throughout the inside and outside of the house. The gates were re-hung  and looked great.

In the porch area we did a bunch more rockwork. Here the crew lines up  to sculpt the rockwork. It must be done with sped, especially on warm days like today.

The porch area is looking pretty spiffy as everything goes from see-through mesh to silid 'wood' and 'stone'.

The carpenters are now busy in the upper soffits. With the lower sections done our crew is hard at work starting the concrete work that abutts them. The workers from Penfold's Roofing will arrive bright and early tomorrow morning to begin nailing on the shingles. It will dramatically change the look of the house in a short time.

Stay tuned for more progress shots tomorrow.

Ready to re-plant.

Peter finished off the welding of the new gate tree yesterday. The gates are ready to re-hang at last.

As with every area of the house the MAGIC will be in the details. Peter cut a small heart in the trunk of the tree, taking the theme of the outside of the house to the center of the gate.

In the next day or two (as time permits) it wil be time to hang the gates back where they belong. Stay tuned...
