Tree house

The crew worked hard as usual today. Peter finished welding up the second giant tree roots beside the front window. It is now ready for the galvanized mesh.

Hailey and Brando finished wiring the first treet bottom today save tor a few bits. The evening light was perfect for a photograph. Brando posed beside his work to give an idea of scale.

As soon as Peter finished the front roots he moved the welding rig to the front door area of the house and began work on the trees around the door.

With all the trees we are creating our house could well be named the tree house.

A great day in the sun!

Today was a busy day onsite. The weather was prefect for working outside. Our crew was busy working on the large trees at the front window. Peter will finish the welding on bottom half of the second one tomorrow. Hailey and Brando made great progress tying galvanized mesh to the framework in readiness for the sculpted concrete to follow soon. Unfortunately the pencil rod and mesh photographs very poorly so a picture of the marvelous root system they have created will have to wait a little longer.

Harold's crew also made great progress, putting up a bunch of small trusses, sheeting the balance of the upstairs floor and building the necessary pony walls for the center trusses over the vaulted portion of the house. They will slide into place tomorrow.

I cut and assembled a new test eyebrow for the front of the house. It was given the thumbs up and is now final. The smaller one we tried the other day now lives by the front entry on the porch side of the house. It too is now permanent in that location.

A few more pieces

Today the crew started on the floor upstairs, gluing and nailing the plywood in place. They made great progress, finishing one room, working their way across the bridge and well into the second room. It is now looking pretty roomy upstairs.

When the crane truck arrived the work quickly shifted to the task of putting the last of the heavy steel beams in place.

Once the beams were squared up and securely welded and bolted in place it was time to put some more trusses into place. There are still a few cormners and ends to put into placeas well as the center trusses on the living/dining room vault but the skeleton of the roof is largely in place. Pretty soon there will only be stick framing left to finish.
