One of the things I love about new and challenging projects is the new tools we simply have to acquire in order to do them. Some might think it is a conspiracy on my part but I would absolutely deny that notion! I’ve been wanting a press for a very years. A short while ago I was in my favourite tool store and couldn’t help notice a little twenty ton hydraulic press on display by the front door. It was a floor model that had been heavily discounted just that day. It was much too good a deal to pass on. The little press was the perfect tool to form the rounded steel shapes we needed for the monogram logos on the giant pump. It also came in handy for forming a number of parts for the little photo op truck we just finished. To make the press useful we have fabricated three die forms thus far with another die planned for tomorrow for our current project. It certainly takes a little time and material to make sturdy die form but we believe them to be a good investment that will come in handy for years to come. I’m happy to report that we have some very cool projects in the design stage that will necessitate the acquisition of two other new tools I’ve been researching and drooling over for a very, very long time. I hope the projects and new tools soon become a reality!
