A typical design goes through a number of revisions as it makes its way from inkling to the actual build. We are currently working on the garden door for the Copper Crown. The first concepts were quick freehand sketches. These are shown around among our crew as we solicit comments and suggestions. The design will go through a number of iterations until everyone is satisfied. Then we begin working in a tighter scale. Most often more changes are required to make things fit perfectly and more importantly work as a practical and dimensional object. The garden door handle placement was critical in this case. the Copper Crown banner needed to be at eye level as well. After more review it was decided to loop both the tail and head away from the door and over the ends of the banner. Once the details are worked out it is time to create the vectors so the steel can be cut to shape on the CNC plasma cutter. Once the files are sent to the computer actual production can begin at last. I’m looking forward to seeing this dragon come to life over the next few days. It will be a door unlike any other!
