I spent about an hour in the shop this evening, finishing off the cutting file, plasma cutting the steel pieces and then welding up the throttle assembly for my 'MARVELOUS MACHINE'. The throttle lever is somewhat similar to the one I built for our train last year. The clunky mechanical switch will be much more dramatic than a simple on-off electrical button. On top of that it adds a whole lot of story telling detail to the piece.
Last of the arches
After months of construction on the NEBs project we reached a milestone today. The last two of the arches for the bowling alley received their sculpted concrete. There were thirty-four arches in all. Five more beams still need to be sculpted as well as twelve posts, but we are at last reaching the end phase of this portion of the project.
Colour!
While I was busy taking care of the Trinidad project, Peter and the crew were also busy in the shop. The four large dimensional signs (and smaller ones) for Cultus Lake were getting their multiple coats of paint. I peeked into the shop this evening and they look great!
