A theme park is all about the story and the characters in it. The inhabitants of Skallywag Bay are called Gruffles. They are a motley bunch - sixteen characters in all. Their presence is felt extensively though the park. All sixteen have their portrait on the Yardarm Swing ride, around the canopy. Captain Skallywag appears over the gate and in a statue in the center of the courtyard. Many of the Gruffle's names are on their houses, and other's likenesses are featured on signs through the park..
